Welcome to today's episode of the Project Mom Podcast. Today is June 12th and we are finally getting underway with season two. If you've stuck around from season one, I am grateful. You are on this journey with me and I am so excited to be back. If you're new here, welcome. We are really in for a treat this season. Since we're a few months behind the anticipated launch date, I figured what better way to kick off the season than with an update from me. I started this season off with Jackie Mangiolino's episode, who is the founder of The Everyday Mother, a baby tracking journal. And I started off with an interview because those are my bread and butter, really my comfort zone. It is these solo episodes that have me running for the hills. But in my experience and in those lessons learned from the incredible women that I've talked with in seasons one and two, it is really in these uncomfortable moments and opportunities that we can find the growth and the healing and the progress. So a goal of mine in season two is to share with you a bit more about me and what I have going on behind the mic, in addition to sharing the incredible stories of women who are just like us, navigating motherhood and entrepreneurship. As I was preparing to start recording for season two, I actually found out I was pregnant with my second child, a little boy who's due in October. And we are beyond thrilled over here, but this pregnancy has been physically challenging for me. It's been way more intense than it was with my daughter. The first trimester brought 24-hour nausea, which I definitely didn't experience with my daughter, on top of exhaustion. And I have a toddler running around. And I didn't have much morning sickness with my daughter. So you all listening will have to let me know what you think. But I feel like nausea without vomiting is almost, and I'll put those in quotations, almost a worse feeling than actually having the reprieve of throwing up. And I know there are other very critical instances where throwing up is a concern in pregnancy. It's just really tough for us out here, us women growing babies and growing our families. So I ended up having to put quite a few recordings and calls on hold for about two months in order to be able to get to a point where I could show up and fully be present for the women that I was talking to. And to be honest, this was a real bummer for me. I was very excited, very ready to dive back into this project I hit a point where I was a little bit resentful. I got to a place in this project where I was launching something established and I'm hiring out an editing and support team and I'm looking to start monetizing so that I can continue this project. And I was just so frustrated that I had to hit pause again. And also for me, the real kicker was... I still felt like in moments, I was the only one making sacrifices to grow this family. Now before you come at me, I knew it then and I know it now, right? That's not entirely true. But in that moment and in some of those really more intense moments, I realized I needed to pause this project, right? This project that gave me a purpose as an individual. My husband's schedule didn't change. His work time looked the same. My daughter was still getting parents, granted we were tag teaming it, who could still show up for her, put her to bed at night. It felt like the time that I needed to rest and grow this baby had to come out of my goals, my individual goals, not the grocery shopping, the laundry, the playtime, not out of the caretaking role that I was playing. And I share that because I imagine that some of you can relate to that feeling of sadness or frustration, those expectations, the need to function for the good of the group at the expense of yourself as an individual for some time. And I came to realize as I'm moving through this to the other side that the most powerful and supportive thing that I could do for myself at the time was rest and is rest still to this day. It's not to force this work when I can't physically show up my best. And in the time and in the space that I gave myself to love on me and love on this baby, this unborn baby, really came beautiful connections and opportunities. I was able to share with my guests what I was experiencing with my new podcasting team. It really led to just some incredible connections and understanding from them, which ultimately gave me a lens of understanding that I now get to bring to this next phase of the project, that as I have these discussions with these women and I get to engage with the audience that's listening, I get to really, truly understand because I've been here. Now, in addition to hearing these journeys on Project Mom this upcoming year, you will be able to hear from me on a variety of other podcasts as well, which I'm really excited about. I share my motherhood journey in more detail with other ladies in this industry. And two of them are out right now. The first is The Mother Load with Lindsay Roselle. And the other is on the Moms in Real Life podcast. And as more of those episodes get released, I'll definitely be sure to highlight those. on my Instagram page, which is at Project Mom Podcast. So if you don't already follow, please do. That is where the majority of the updates will be coming from. Additionally, and this is possibly the most scary and most exciting, is my newest endeavor, which is actually hands-on work to support women just like you all listening. I will be launching more free resources over the next six months that share insights and action items that have helped me personally find clarity and support and movement in my work. and in motherhood. These are based on just tried and true methods that have worked for me personally and have come from the inner and outer work that I have really dedicated myself to over the last three years or so. So right now, up on the website, there are two currently live. The first one is the inner work resource that I compiled alongside Alice and Ryan, as well as a toddler travel packing list, which is the first one. by far and large, my most used document personally. It is one that I use every single time as a starting point when I travel with my daughter. So I highly recommend that if you are starting or thinking about or have struggled in the past with traveling with your kid and how to prepare yourself for that. Lastly, I've opened up my availability to support women just like you all, established, aspiring mompreneurs, with actual, tangible, hands-on project-based work? Is there something on your business to-do list that's been there for weeks or for months? Is there something that you've wanted to accomplish? Think auto email replies based on common, frequently asked questions, or breaking down that blog post or podcast episode in a bite-sized pieces that could be used for social posts. It could be organizational. Wanting to restructure your cloud files so that you can more easily find what you know is already there. These are just examples of some of the projects that you don't want to do, but if they got done, would free up so much of your time that you can then focus on other parts of your business or actually spend more time at home with the kids. And that's my goal with this project-based work is to help you accomplish these projects so that you can actually spend the time how you want to. And what I love about the project structure of what I'm trying to do here is that there's no long-term commitment. There's no monthly retainers. It's all one-off projects in order just to help you all move forward in your businesses. So if you're interested, check out my website. I have more details at EmilyGorey.com. You can also link through that through the ProjectMomPodcast.com website. And if you're interested, please reach out. There's a lot of exciting things happening on my end. And I really wish that all for you too. So I hope you'll join me for season two.
